Takeoff Verification — get the quantities checked before you commit

Someone else's quantities are about to become your risk

Every tender you price and every quote you accept carries quantities somebody produced under time pressure — a designer's schedule, a supplier's takeoff, your own estimator at nine at night. If they're wrong, the error lands on your margin after the contract is signed, when it's hardest to fix.

Working in Auckland? The same offer, with how it compares to a typical QS, is on our quantity surveyor Auckland page.

What we do

We independently re-measure the key quantities off the drawings and tell you, item by item, which numbers hold and which don't. Every measurement is made two independent ways and reconciled against the drawing's own printed dimensions before we record it. Where the documents can't answer a question, we say so — with a dollar range, not a shrug.

What you get

  • Verification note — every checked quantity confirmed or flagged, findings in plain language, unknowns carried with dollar ranges. Signed by the founder, every time.

  • Marked planset — your drawings returned with every measurement drawn on the sheet it came from, so you can see exactly what was measured and where.

Fixed prices, published

  • Takeoff verification — one trade or drawing set: NZ$490 + GST

  • Tender pack — up to four trades across one tender: from NZ$1,250 + GST

  • Standard turnaround 48 hours from complete drawings. Same-day available for tender deadlines (+25%).

No hourly meters, no "it depends". The price is the price, and it costs less than the estimate it checks.

Why an independent check

  • We don't sell the takeoff we're checking. No stake in the number being big or small — that's the point of independence.

  • Reduced-size drawing sets get caught. A recent regional-council tender set was A1 drawings issued at A3 — any quantity scaled off the PDF at the stated scale would be out by a factor of two. We verify the working scale against printed dimensions before measuring anything.

  • Evidence, not assurances. The marked planset shows the work; the note shows the reasoning; the unknowns come with dollar ranges.

What this isn't

Not a design review, and not certification of buildability. Where quantities live in documents you haven't supplied — structural reinforcement on a civils-only set, say — we flag the gap rather than guess it.

Get started

Email the drawings and the numbers you've been given to hello@trueworks.co.nz, or use the contact form and we'll come back the same working day. Not sure yet? Start with the free quote check and we'll tell you whether a full verification is worth your money. Got supplier price files — a wholesaler export, a merchant price book, a supplier quote? Email them with the drawings: we check quotes and tenders against the prices you actually pay, not book rates. Spreadsheets and exports in any common format are fine. How we handle your files: your prices stay yours — never pooled, never benchmarked against other clients, never shared. We do keep anonymised, non-price learnings from engagements (drawing conventions, measurement checks, method improvements) to make every future check sharper. Files deleted on request.
